Plex not loading on Edenwood TV

LG App Not Working - the Plex app wont load on Edenwood TVs anymore since yesterday. It worked the day before yesterday, but now it wont work on any of my TVs of the same brand, but works fine on my phone app and computers.
After a while, i get the screen “Plex is taking a long time to start”, but restarting it with or without clearing settings won’t solve the issue.

Does Edenwood run LG webOS or Android TV? You tagged the post with android-tv, but mention the LG app.

If LG webOS, try deleting and re-installing the app.

Plex published an update yesterday. It fixed a problem with the app not loading on LG TVs.

Thank you for your reply, it doesn’t work on LG webOS for all i know. Tricky thing, apps are not “installed” on the TV, it has its own software installed, called “Foxxum” (https://foxxum.com/) that allows apps to be launched. So i can not delete and reinstalled them, just launch them

Short Answer: Buy a streaming box/stick - Amazon, Apple, Nvidia, Roku, etc.

Long Answer:

See Which Smart TV Models Are SupportedDevices with Limited Playback Capabilities

No idea why the app is not working.

However, it has limited playback capabilities. It is limited to a maximum of 1080p/H.264 @ 4Mbps video and AAC/FLAC/MP3 2.0 audio. Anything higher will transcode.

Additional details: Plex is always transcoding x265 - #16 by FordGuy61

You would be better served by using a streaming box/stick. Current models from the major manufacturers support 4K HDR video and many more audio codecs.

Here’s a short list of devices that work well with Plex:

  • Amazon FireTV Stick 4K Max Gen 2 or Fire Cube Gen 3
  • Apple TV 4K
  • Nvidia Shield Pro
  • Roku Ultra or Streaming Stick 4K

Additional Info:

Plex did push an update yesterday. There might have been a delay in getting the update to your region. They cleared the cache where the updates are stored, so you should have access to the most recent update.

Try turning off the TV and removing the AC power for ~30 seconds. Then restore power, turn on the TV and try the Plex app. Hopefully that will get you the latest update.

I tried to completely shut off the TV and remove the AC, it didn’t work, but suddenly, yesterday at the end of the day Plex suddenly started again. I think as you said, it was a cache delay that has to be propagated to the Foxxum service. Not much to do in those cases except wait I guess… thank you very much !
