Plex not matching the Survivor (2023) British reboot

Hi,

The UK version of Survivor has been rebooted as a new show for 2023 and is available from Survivor (TV Series 2023- ) — The Movie Database (TMDB). Plex seems to not be able to match this correctly despite a .plexmatch file set to:

tmdbid: 237481
Year: 2023

I have tried the Plex Dance, restarted the server, and moved files without any luck. I have ensured that the files are named such that they should match the TMDB entry as well:

Survivor (2023)
 - Season 1
   - Survivor (2023) - S01E01 - Episode 1.mp4

Any idea on what I can do to try and match this against the TMDB entry?

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7621
Player Version#: 4.108.0 (Web)

@ChuckPa looks like we have a metadata glitch

This works
Survivor (UK) (2023) {tmdb-237481} <–folder

Survivor (UK).S01E01.Episode 1 <–episode

Careful of the naming please.

  1. Plex is “outside the UK” so we must remember the “UK” designation.

Survivor (also known as Survivor UK outside of the UK) is a British adventure reality game show based on the international Survivor format.

  1. I have metadata

  2. I have both US and UK

  1. Naming :

What am I not seeing?

You have a show in the 2nd spot but that’s matched to Survivor (2021) Chuck

Alternatively you can put the tmdb id into the search field and fix match it

Edit: This is the correct one Chuck

This data is all messed up.

Please observe:

  1. Name says 2023
  2. Year is 2001

Thanks @JaysPlex, I have managed to get it to match what you have in your screenshot.

However, it seems that none of the metadata such as episode descriptions are coming through from TMDB. In fact, it almost feels like it is pulling from Survivor (TV Series 2001–2023) - IMDb which thinks there are three seasons with the third being the most recent when in fact it should be a new show. This might be where the 2001 is coming from that @ChuckPa is seeing?

I have the correct one using TVDB id.

This is a (not) fun one.

I will give this to the metadata team to sort out.

Click the pencil on main show poster and go to advanced

Switch it TVDB (aired)

EPISODE ORDERING

If I do that it appears to pull the same show metadata the TVDB and TMDB have for the right show

Chuck is right though. You shouldn’t have to do all this for a correct match. Something went haywire somewhere lol

Question: Is this a metadata issue or just a case of how they rebooted and switched to the UK ?

Hey!

I’m still having zero luck with this. Even with putting the right tvdb number in the folder, it thinks the old series is the new series and doesn’t link the new series to anything. Can you please help?

Did you do the complete plex dance with the 2023 show (And I mean every step)?

Yup! I’ve tried that dance twice, every step. It recognizes the 2023 version as the correct version now but still is pulling the wrong metadata (release and description are incorrect). And it isn’t matching the 2001 version correctly at all, just thinking it’s the 2023 version, giving multiple files for season 1 and adding a season 2 that doesn’t exist, when it should be two separate series with two separate 1st seasons which I’ve labelled! It’s tough! Any thoughts? Example photo of both premiere episodes being matched to 2023 premiere. It’s after dancing.

@ChuckPa I can confirm that the metadata is still messed up. I did a demo using the TVDB ids.
Show is matched to the 2023 version. And when I do a split/manual match for 2001 tvdb-78576 I get
