I even tried matching by the TVDB ID: 359573. No luck.
The one episode I have is in a folder of the named “Paranormal Caught On Camera (2001)” and I have tried it in that root folder as well as creating a season subfolder. Doesn’t matter.
Paranormal Caught On Camera Isnt a 2001 show, its a 2019 show. Try doing the plex dance, and then putting the files in a folder called Paranormal Caught on Camera {tvdb-359573} what are the episodes named as?
Well…Plex finds it using your method or by changing the name of the folder to have “2019” in it instead of “2001”., but if you look at the TVDB website it says 2001. Also, if you use FileBot it identifies it as 2001 and named the individual episode properly with 2001 in the name.
How is it that the Plex agent is right, but the data source that it’s supposedly pulling from is wrong? Isn’t Plex still using TVDB as the metadata source?
So there seems to be some inconsistency and perhaps it depends where the apps are pulling data from. Not the first time that TVDB has had mistakes or inconstancies.
I suggest IMDB as a reference source to verify the show information is correct, because some downloads will have different season and episode data embedded in their coding and sometimes the only way to correct this is to completely rename it in plex with a verified source such as IMDB. The metadata scans from the source file so if the embedded code not the title is incorrect then the search results will be incorrect as well.
