Player Version#: 6.9 Build 14 latest ROKU and new google chromecast
Was working fine until last week. Have 3 Roku devices and one Google Chomecast None will play any videos with EAC audio. Rokus hang at 33%. Non-EAC videos play fine.
I just reported a couple of days ago. then I went out and got the google chromecast thinking it may be a roku issue. when it also happened on chromecast i made up a new report.
Someone suggested deleting the codecs folder. I was going to try that but cant get Shield to let me connect to the drive.
yeah the windows app cna play that natively where I’m pretty sure the browser cannot and would need the server to transcode which it probably can’t due to codec issue.
Shield experience 9 is android 11 which has a lot more restrictions on what an app can do with removable storage and when an app is in background which the server always is.
I don’t think anything changed with regards to how to access storage from a PC but gonna check with some folks who known more than me in that regard
In Settings, navigate to Apps > Select your app > Permissions > Files and Media > Allow all the time (or Allow depending on the app).
Enable external storage and network-attached storage to be seen as it’s connected. In Settings, navigate to Device Preferences > Storage > Scan for media automatically.
not only did those settings not help the other clients it is now causing the local client to crash the entire box when trying to play EAC audio
After a reboot it caused the plex server to completely dissappear under the plex settings…
Changing them back and rebooting the server is back but when I try to use the player it will sometimes crash the shield still even on non EAC videos…
OK after 3 reboots it appears things are back where I was at. EAC not playing except on the shield player and failing on the other clients, but its no longer crashing when trying to play videos.
Thanks for all your help. let me know what more I can do, but going to bed now.
the only way I could get anything to play on the shield plex player was to disable resolution and refresh rate I found after several reboots and trial and error…
