Plex "not powerful enough" to stream audio on Roku

Server Version#: 1.21.2.3943
Player Version#: 6.7.6

This is my first post, so I’m not entirely sure what to add, but I have logs I can share. Not sure if I just paste them in, I had verbose logs, but the tooltip about logs says don’t post verbose, when everyone asks for verbose. I’m just confused lol.

I’m streaming from a Windows 10 machine that has a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM and a 1070 GPU, but for some reason when I transcode some audio codecs that are streamed to my Roku Series 6 tv, the stream buffers before I get a “not powerful enough” error.

Video isn’t an issue and will transcode just fine. Video and audio will transcode together without trouble, too. It’s audio transcoding on its own that buffers then dies. Not all audio though, and sometimes one audio file will play direct, but have to transcode another time. Specifically DTS 5.1 HD MA will play direct sometimes, then transcode to AC3 other times.

Has anyone experienced this? I can provide logs, just need to know how to format them and if they should be verbose or not.

Thank you in advance!

Looks like I’ve fixed the problem. For anyone with a Roku TCL Series 6, the NIC card was holding everything back. Streams maxed out at about 90mbps when wired and 50-60mbps when on WiFi. I’ve switched to using my Xbox as the player and it’s fixed everything.

Cheers!

If you are willing to try the Roku again but turn on remote logging before reproducing we can look at what we can try to see why it needs to transcode audio in the first place or if there is some other cause of it.
