Plex not reading TV shows

The computer was not in freeze mode during that last one. Also, the deep freeze program doesn’t give any type of exemptions, it is either in deep freeze mode or thawed mode.

I don’t think that’ll work with Plex because that seriously interferes with how plex works.

You said this tv show uses the DVD ordering. I have looked everywhere and I cannot find where to change that. Where is that located?

Edit the tv show (you must be at the top level of that show, not on the ‘season’ and not on the ‘episode’ level), the setting is on the ‘Advanced’ tab.

Found it. I went thru all the TV shows and they all are set to airing order. None of them are in DVD order.

I have found that using Plex Media Server I have no problems, but using Plex is when I have the problem. Once I play the first episode then the rest of them just fall in place. Time to get back to work, I will work on this some more tonight when I get home. Thanks for all the help.

What do you mean by “Plex Media Server” vs “Plex”?

Glad you found a solution!

Using the Plex App on the smart TV is what I have always used and that is where I am having the issue. But since I am living in a camper and all my stuff is in a small area and plugged into my computer anyway (TV as an extra monitor), I just opened up the plex server on my small monitor and moved it to the TV and ran it that way. It will work for now. Once we move into the new house I will have a lot of setting up to do to get things running the way I want. Hopefully I won’t need your help, but if I do I know where to go and thanks again.
Jeff

Tip: if you run a HDMI cable from computer to TV, it is better to use PLex Media Player. It requires almost no transcoding from the server, which reduces cpu load and improves quality.

PMP is an additional download under DONWLOADS above.

Would that be true for CAT6 wire as well? When my new house is at the point of running electric wires I was planning on running CAT6 throughout the house. And I planned on getting the Nighthawk X10 router so I wouldn’t really need to keep my computer on 24-7. Any setup suggestions?

No, that is an entirely different thing.
With HDMI, the PC is doing the video playback. That is what my recommendation is for.

Ethernet wires are for connecting Plex clients to the server. And I can only applaud your decision to go fully wired. It is a good one.

My personal opinion? Don’t.
All Plex server software updates will have to get clearance from the manufacturer of the Router. Because they are installed in the course of a firmware update.
I am not too optimistic about them releasing firmware updates for a longer time.

Use a system where you can decide what is running and what not. Go for a miniature PC and plug it into a NAS device.

But the above is just a personal opinion and you are of course free to do as you please.

Thanks for the info.
