Plex not removing deleted files

Added a tv show to films by accident, removed the files, put them where they should be. Have scanned the library about twenty times, the files still show in movies when they should not… yet they do not exist…

But plex continues to show.
Had similar issues when removing music…

A manual delete option would be really great for this. As this seems to be a bug which could have a easy workaround…

I am at a loss on how to remove the odd video entries without deleting the library

Do these steps in order waiting for each to complete before doing the next

Clean bundles
Optimize database
Empty trash

Thanks, followed these steps and still sadly the files remain.

They do show as Unavailble on plex info screen, but the library entries wont vanish.

I noticed a old empty directory still listed on sources, i removed that its somehow knocked it into removing those…

Seems to be an issue when its the same drive, it wont remove them even if the files are moved into another directory, it remains showing only vanishing on editing the actual library folders, having to remove something and readd it to make it work.

Sounds like you’re on top of it.

The “cache confusion” problems of plex are many and I take the thorough approach when it comes to moving deleting renaming anything. In short, don’t just move stuff around and expect rescanning to make it right

  1. Move the movie/series/etc out of the data tree
  2. Delete it through plex
  3. Empty trash (plus clean and optimize if you feel like it)
  4. Move it back in and rescan
