Deleted content deleted from my hard drive still appears on the Plex player, and when selected it always states “Playback Error: Please check that the file exists and the necessary drive is mounted”.
I have emptied my computer’s recycle bin.
In the Manage>Libraries tab, I have done the “Empty Trash” in the respective libraries, and I’ve done “Scan Library Files” and “Analyze” and “Refresh All Metadata” tools as well, just to see if this would have an effect.
I’ve gone to Manage>Troubleshooting and done “Optimize Database” and “Clean Bundles”
After all of this, I restarted the computer and repeated it all again.
All of the previous files are still there. I could individually delete these files from Plex, but I would prefer it to sync with the folder appropriately.
Click on the poster of one that was deleted
click on the 3 dots and then click get info
If it shows the file is deleted then just click delete to remove it from the database
Doing it in the order of scan for files then empty trash should remove them (assuming empty trash after every scan is not enabled)
The only reason afaik that it does not get rid of something is if an entire path that was set up for the library folders goes missing. this is to help prevent loss in case of a HD becoming unintentionally disconnected.
@BigWheel - I have done scan for files followed by empty trash a handful of times, and I just did it again.
I cross referenced all of the file paths, and they are currently all accurate. I have changed them in the past, however, I don’t know if this current problem is a ghost of past changes. @nydave69 My goal is to not have to individually delete everything I have deleted over the past few months.
