Well, maybe your server is still busy scanning the libraries. I’d say let it sit overnight and take a look tomorrow.
It doesn’t show it is scanning… but guess there’s nothing for it but to wait. Thanks for all your and other moderators help.
Sorry for not responding earlier. But i realized if i do seasons folder for one show lets say futurama. It’ll pickup the subs for that show AND another show that doesn’t have the seasons folder. But it doesn’t stick. I ended up doing everything i have into season folders and that seemed to have resolved it for a few weeks now.
No joy… subtitles still not showing up on some media, but showing on others. Not so critical for most stuff except Non-English, un-dubbed Tv and Movies. Maybe some subsquent update will somehow sort it out
But I noticed this going thru the XML files. I have no idea how it works or how to edit it… but I noticed the difference between the files with working subtitles and the ones that don’t. Maybe someone with more knowledge can have a look and solve the problem. Seems to involve the Stream id.
No Subtitle:
Working Subtitle:
The XML doesn’t make any difference. It is just a different presentation of the same stuff you see in the regular user interface.
The first screenshot just tells the fact that no external subtitle has been recognised. Nothing else.
Oh damn… thought I discovered the cure for cancer. HAHA. Oh well… I tried.
Can you switch the view mode of the season folder (in your file manager) to a kind of “list mode”?
So one can see all the file names neatly aligned under each other. Sometimes you notice differences that way, which escape your attention otherwise.
I am missing the file permissions somehow. This is Linux, right?
Do the Plex Dance on one episode, and after that, upload a zip with the logs
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Did the Plex Dance, cleaned bundles, empty trash etc then reloaded the episode in question and have attached the log. Hope I got it right.
Oh, and the reloaded episode still does not show the subtitles.
From the logs:
OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Media/localhost/0/e61a8108ad54f6b0db9f21605383c6f4614a6a6.bundle'
So PMS is unable to update/create the xml file in there
User running PMS, must have full rights to the library directory and downwards
Thanks for that, sorry have been at work and haven’t had a chance to look into it. I thought I had set the permissions and ownerships when I initially set up the server, but will go through and check everything. Will report back when I am done.
I checked and found that in fact my media folders had not been assigned plex ownership, which was strange, but I had migrated the Plex library one time when I did a clean install of the the latest Linux Mint update, so I must have missed assigning permissions. Anyway was about to fix that when I saw that my media suddenly all had subtitles working again. The Walking Dead episodes in question, the other folders, all appear to have working subtitles again. Also the metadata seem to be downloading again. Perhaps this was from the last PMS update recently. Anyway, the problem appears to have been solved. Thanks for all the troubleshooting advice, I have learnt a little more about Plex and Linux
