Since the last couple of weeks there’s been a hit or miss with being able to view new videos on my Plex-player. The files works fine on my computer, but crashes the app on my TV.
Server is on a high-end computer (32gb RAM, AMD Threadripper, Geforce 1080TI).
This is my 2nd ticket regarding this and I hope I can get an answer.
[Merged new thread with original thread; please don’t start multiple threads for the same issue, thanks! -Mod]
I have the same problem, mkv files either come up with an error or play very choppy. I am using version 1.18.7.2457. I have been converting all my mkv to mp4… very time consuming! Trying to play from plex app on fire stick and android phone Samsung S9. No Bueno!!!
Exact same issue here - started this week and only affected new media files. My problem is, when I uninstalled the app, I’m unable to reinstall it (keep getting a “Failed to download.(2007)” error).
I have reset the smarthub, changed the region of the smarthub and even factory reset the TV… no luck. All other apps download and run just fine
I’m a paid subscriber and running my PMS off a QNAP NAS.
Server version found via web client, settings icon, scroll down on the left and under your SERVER NAME, click on general and the version number will be in the right side pane
Plex App version found via clicking on the user icon, settings, and then “about”.
There are two versions of the Samsung app: an unofficial one for older TVs that is no longer supported and the one for newer TVs that is officially supported. Knowing which you have and which server version you’re using is extremely helpful. Thanks.
Plex app version (only one available in the smarthub): 2.012 (developer is Plex Inc. and updated 2018-08-21)
Looking at the updated date (2018), I assume it may be the unsupported version? The issue is that there is no other version available via the smarthub.
