Plex not updating files when scanning library

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#:
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

I’m unfortunately unable to update any of my libraries. Not sure what is happening. I have restarted my server and it still isn’t updating.

You will need to post details if there is any hope of figuring out your problem.

I am unsure of where to find player version (not sure this is an issue with the player) and the issue that I am having is that my library is not updating with new files that are being added.

lets start with a copy of your server logs

Thank you.

Same problem, today I went to add files to my movie or series folders, and I get the same symptom.

Plex Media Server Logs_2023-12-05_23-34-46.zip (3.1 MB)

Server version: #### Versión 1.32.8.7639

Plex Web #### Versión 4.116.1

Basic questions please about the environment:

  1. Distro and Version of host ?
  2. If you “Scan Files” is the media added ?
  3. Is the media with the host or on a NAS ?
  1. Open Media Vault 6 - Installed Plex in Docker.

2- If I scan, it scans but does nothing, and finds nothing.

3- If I create a new library, and I point to a folder with files, it tells me that it is empty.

  1. I am honestly unsure of where to find these.
  2. The media is not added. Curiously enough, new episodes of shows that were already being tracked are being added.

@Kuririn

On OMV, OMV must grant permission for the Docker container to read the files.

If I remember OMV correctly, you must do this for each shared storage / pool / folder.
(sorry, I forget the exact term)

can anyone help me with finding where these are located?

Yes, that’s ok, from plex I can see the shared folders with the content.

Actually the server has always been working fine, I understand that it has been this last update, because until just 2 weeks ago that I uploaded a movie to one of the folders everything worked correctly, and I have not made any manual changes in the plex server.

If Plex can see the shared folder with the content,
can it see the subfolders containing the content ?

If it can, then the next thing to look at is the actual permission on each file/folder.
Linux is very strict about this. It’s possible to see files & folder but not be able to read them.

I had the same problem yesterday for a few hours, and I started playing around with the Agent and Scanner, which was quite a mess. Then, after a few hours, everything went back to normal. I think it was an issue with the Plex agent.

Finally yesterday, I deleted the configuration folder, created a new stack in portainer, generated the libraries again and it worked, as if it was a new installation with my account.

Surely if I had waited, it would have fixed itself, as I see in the message above.
