Server will not scan media library after server update

Server Version#: 1.43.2.10687-720010687
Player Version#:
Running on Synology NAS: DS423+ Version: DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 3

Hi, I updated the Plex server on my DNS423+ NAS yesterday and since then the ‘Scan Library Files’ does nothing.

Before the update I had added a movie and it updated the library fine.

file used to update the plex server was: PlexMediaServer-1.43.2.10687-563d026ea-x86_64_DSM72.spk

Queation: Can I downgrade to: PlexMediaServer-1.41.2.9200-c6bbc1b53-x86_64_DSM72.spk

What do I have to do?

or can you fix the problem with a new update?

Regards

Rodney

Just updated Plex to Server Version: 1.43.3.10828

But it still doesn’t scan.

Please fix.

You should share your server logs so someone can take a look and see what the issue might be.

Could be a variety of things causing the issue like permissions, inotify limit, db corruption…

Server Logs: Tried to upload the zip file but it doesn’t work, sits at 0% then message to say the upload failed.

tried to paste as image (png file) of a screen grab and that fails as well.

Any help uploading the log so this problem can be resolved?

before logging into the forum etc. try rebooting your modem/router and everything connected to it including any wireless devices.

That should clear any DNS Cache corruption that may be causing the upload issue.

Also, check your video files carefully. A badly encoded/formatted file can seem to prevent Plex from scanning a library folder.

Also remove any non media files from your library folder, IE; anything that is not an image or video file.

Thanks,

But the fact that it scanned fine as I added a TV show and Movie just before I updated to the latest version then it would not scan again tells me that it’s the update not a file.

I will remove the last uploaded files and try to scan again but I also run a Windows Plex Server with the same files with no problem.

Will try an upload of the logs as well.

Regards

Running the same latest version on a Synology RS2416+. Exact same problem. Prior to this latest release the Library Scans worked fine, now they do nothing.

Also reboot the NAS. Then scan the library and pull/post server logs.

Check your folder permissions for Plex in your Synology server. I found that the permissions for my movie directory had dropped Plex from read/write. I restored the permissions, as well as carefully checking all paths, and now have scanning restored.

still no luck uploading files

will have to try from work.

Checked the rights and the PlexMediaServer account has right to everything in the library’s.

Are you able to download the logs, just can’t upload them?

Post them somewhere like Google Drive, grab the share link, make sure it’s set to view for all, and share the link.

here is my log file finally.

Plex Media Server Logs_2026-08-04_21-20-54.zip (4.4 MB)

@Rodney Looking at the logs Im not seeing anything that stands out. Can you provide the file name and path for something that isnt scanning and should have been captured in the logs above?

I tried to run a scan twice on each library before I collected the logs.

Libraries: All Libraries are located under /volume1/Media/

TV Shows - /volume1/Media/TV Shows

Music - /volume1/Media/Music

Photos - /volume1/Media/Photos

Music Videos - /volume1/Media/Music Videos

Music Documentaries - /volume1/Media/Music Documentaries

Just noticed another Server Update, will install it and see if this fixes anything.

What movie did you add that isn’t showing up? Your logs show the scanner working. It went through your files but didn’t find anything new to add. It’s possible the movie got matched to something else so it just appeared it didn’t scan.

John Wick 1, 2, 3 and 4

I have them on my Windows Plex Server no problems, same names same files.

OK, so I upgraded to the latest version of server and the scan is working again.
