Plex not working on android

Modem (10.0.0.1) → Router (10.0.0.100) → Synology NAS (10.0.0.125)

In that configuration –

  1. Your Comcast modem is also a router and the source for your 10.x.x.x subnet
  2. Your linksys is serving as the AP . It is NOT providing any routing UNLESS you’ve plugged the Comcast modem into the WAN port . It will provide routing for the WiFi devices only.

Do you have the following?

  1. Linksys WAN port → UNUSED
  2. Comcast modem/router → Port 1 of the Linksys
  3. Synology → Port 2 of the Linksys
  4. Any other LAN devices in ports 3 & 4 as you need.

In this configuration, those 4 ethernet ports are working as a switch (so all devices can be on 10.x.x.x)

Your WiFi, IIRC, will be on a different subnet (10.0.1.x or whatever you set)

PMS’s logs, which show it detecting double NAT means you’re getting two layers of routing – which is a strong indicator of having the Comcast modem plugged into the Linksys WAN port.

I have (or at least should (I’m not at home atm)) my internet from my Comcast modem plugged into the internet port on my Linksys router and then I have my two desktop computers that are in the same room plugged into the routers networking ports as well as my Synology Nas.

My Linksys router is on the same subnet (10.0.0.x). Could this be the issue?

Also I just looked at plex via the app on my pixel 5, and I have a connection to PMS, but it isn’t secure.

So ive been working on this some more today. I enabled bridge mode on the comcast modem and let the Linksys router take over. That seems to have fixed the majority of my network issues. Everything is pulling a 172.x.x.x ip address now instead of the 10.x.x.x.

However, Plex is still not pulling my media via app.plex.tv. through a web browser, but I AM able to view it on my mobile devices. Though, it is not a secure connection according to plex. Despite me running the port forwarding through the router.

Port Forwarding is separate from secure connections.

Plex Media Server:
Settings → Networks → Secure connections: Either Preferred or Required.

Plex Clients (Android mobile, others will be similar):
Settings → Advanced → Allow Insecure Connections: On Same Network or Always

Some older Smart TVs do not support secure communications. Adjust accordingly if applicable to your situation.

I currently do not have this option

So I managed to access Plex on my desktop computer via localipadsress:port which I didn’t have to do before. I used to just be able to go to app.plex.tv and log in and be good. Why is this not the case anymore?

app.plex.tv requires a secure connection between the server and the plex.tv hosts.

What is the setting for Secure Communications in Settings → Network?

Preferred
