I have 2 identical (Gen 1) Fire TVs and both are hooked up to identical Sony TVs and running Plex. Both setups worked fine. Recently I got a new Samsung TV and replaced one of the Sony TVs. Now the Samsung/Fire TV/Plex does not work. I get the following 3 error messages:
- [name of computer running PMS] is currently unavailable. Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection. If you need additional help please visit https://support.plex.tv for assistance.
- Error loading content. The content failed to load. This may be because your servers are unavailable or your internet connection is down. Check your connections and retry.
- No internet connection. It looks like you’re offline. You can still browse items downloaded or synced to this device.
On the Fire TV that doesn’t work: In the left hand sidebar, I see the name of my computer (running the Plex Media Server) with a down pointing arrow. Clicking on that makes the arrow point up, but otherwise nothing else happens.
On the Fire TV that works: Clicking on the name of my computer (running PMS) drops down a list of folders containing my movies, TV Shows, etc.
I have tried everything but nothing works. I would really appreciate any help to solve my problem so that I can be able to use Plex on my new Samsung TV.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. The Samsung TV also has a Plex app, which I downloaded and tried to setup. This didn’t work either. I get an error message about only being not be able to connect securely.
