HI all, So i used to run my plex server in a truenas jail, whichever version was available via the official app channel (don’t know what version this was but it was usually fairly out of date. and streaming to my PS4/5 worked fine but i started having issues with a memory leak needing the server to be rebooted every 24h to stay functional.
I built a new server on an intel NUC as a proof of concept so i could take advantage of quicksync. I did not copy over any settings from the original server. THis POC was done on a procmox hosted ubuntu/docker instance. It worked great but i noticed that the app on my PS4/5 would not function, the PS4 you just got the grey background and the menus would rarely load at all. My ps5 the menus would load though navigation was glitchy and video would not play back and result in an error.
I rebuilt another new server this time in a ubuntu based LXC container and installed plex natively, this works great but again the same issues with the PS4/5 persist.
I know the apps are not supposed to be great for these consoles but i cant beleive they dont work at all. In the time ive suffered the issue I have by coincidnce changed ISP, and therfore router, and have since replaced my router and wifi equipment with ubiquiti also so not much chance theres an issue there.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot?
I have done fresh installs of the apps to no effect. Streaming on firesticks, smart TVs and externally work great.
