Hi all. I recently moved house and since then my plex has stopped working on my PS4. I originally changed my PC from LAN at my old house to WiFi at my new house. I changed back to LAN in my new house hoping that would fix it and tested my connection and I get 50mbps. Switching to LAN didn’t help. I have uninstalled plex and reinstalled with no success. I have restarted the PS4 several times too.
When I start plex it takes about 2 minutes to get passed the spinning loading screen and then I end up with a message saying “The server NAS is unavailable. Plex will automatically try to reconnect to this server”. However, none of the controls seem to register with plex. I can’t move to the settings menu, or help option. There is simply no response to any input at all. The only thing I can do is press the PS4 button to close plex.
Once or twice it managed to get passed the “The server NAS is unavailable” screen (still after a 2 mins wait) and it shown my media. But the controls still wouldn’t work. Then the screen started flickering and I had to close it again. All other apps work fine.
Edit:
Just noticed something new. If I remove the LAN cable whilst plex is running the controller starts working in plex again. Very much seems like a network related issue.
I’ve got the same issue, it takes a very long time to load then when i get the starting menu i can’t move anything.
So you’re saying disconnecting the LAN cable after launching Plex could solve that problem? Can you plug it back after that? Do you have to do this operation every time you want to use Plex on PS4?
I have the same problem. Plex has not worked on my PS4 for months now. I have googled the issue often but can’t find any solutions or answers from the devs.
I am connecting to a remote server so I don’t have the option of disconnecting LAN cables and trying again.
After so long I have just given up on the PS4, doesn’t seem like there is gonna be any respons from the devs.
I thought only I had the same problem with starting Plex on my PS4, it usually takes 3-4 min to get the loading screen passed. But the controls still wouldn’t work anyway Probably gonna try removing Lan cable, as you tried. Hope it’ll work.
I get this too, it’s very annoying, no clue why it has such issues if the issue is network related, everything else I use as a Plex client around my house works gr8.
I have the same problem on PS4. It’s funny because I can see my films throught default PS4’s Media Player, throught Plex Media Server, but not throught Plex App. Because of this I think it’s not a network problem but an app problem.
Exactly the same issue. Tried deleting, reinstalling, relinking, resetting up network connections on PS4 etc etc.
PS4 media player can see the Plex shared items on my network, so can Sony tv. Plex on my iOS devices is working fine too… just not Plex on PS4.
Gets stuck on grey screen with spinner / loading icon. Unresponsive. Occasionally lands on plex home screen but totally unresponsive (control via DualShock does nothing).
Hope this gets sorted soon. Plex on PS4 is the reason I pay for it.
Similar issue. I am able to connect to the server it considers my laptop and but the server I use for media is at a friends house and wont connect. We just moved it from one place to another and now for my media server connection, it says “the server is offline or unreachable”. Which kills me because I can still use it just fine on my phone or laptop.
I had the same problem. Its secure connections that’s doing it.
If you disable secure connections on the server, then login to the PS4 app it should let you in.
Then in the app, go to: Settings> Main> Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections and turn to always. Exit the app and close it.
Go back to the server and re-enable secure connections (preferred) and should be good to go.
I’ve just updated the ps4 app and I can see the login buttons but can’t get passed there. I checked the ps4 as the Plex console was showing errors with .194 which in the ps4
It’s a real damn shame, this whole thing. I used to use Plex on my PS4 so I can physically plug in my headphones for a “surround sound” experience. Then one day, Plex just stopped working. The Plex Devs have really offered me no fixes for this yet.
E: I downloaded the “new” Plex App. I’m not really sure what it does more than the in-browser version, but my PS4 Plex is working again. Hurrah? Well, maybe. I also uninstalled and re-installed “Plex Media Server.app” so that might been the reason reason. If neither of those work for you, your last Hurray might be to keep tinkering with the settings in both the browser and Desktop app. Anyway, I’m off to enjoy Plex again. Thanks for nuthin’ Plex Dev team! Woohoo!
