I have just discovered PlexConnect yesterday and got it running on my ATV3.
This was a life saver for me because of the issues I was having with the PLAYZ app and the general lack of useful support from the developer appears to have cause the app to stagnate in bug fixes.
I found PlexConnect very good to use and love the trailer feature, although it does seem to be low quality res when viewing the movie trailers.
Not sure if this is a setting or how to adjust for higher res trailers.
Wanting to know how would you rate the PlexConnect app vs the new official PLEX app on the LG TV you have access to?
In terms of quality and features, better, same or worse?
Mate I have tried to provide as much support as I can, as have many others ... I open sourced the code in the hope others would help with development and offered to pay for feature additions but it just didn't happen ...
I only started thie PLAYz project as a hobby and to fill my desire to have a PLEXish client on my 2013 Netcast TV ... I also hoped it would convince PLEX inc to build something for the LG TV ... I never dreamed it would take off the way it did 11000+ downloads ... but I don't do this full time and have a family that is more important to me than PLAYz ...
I am keen to pull down the new client (whether it is from PLEX inc or not) but it isn't available in the southern hemisphere yet ... does the new client work on Netcast TVs ...
Either way I'm just happy their is someone out there who has the time to build something and make it available ... LG have been the biggest pains in the ā ā ā ā to deal with so I am happy for someone else to take over from here on it ... I have had an update sitting with them for 2 months awaiting QA!!!
Not sure if its for WebOS yet because I donāt have one, but if itās not yet it definitely will be at some point. I have a 2014 net cast model and it performs beautifully. WebOS owners should just keep checking the store until itās available.
Finally!!! Have been waiting for this since I replaced my 2012 lc TV with a 2013 non medialink TV.
Player have been fine, but just so slow and not optimized best for the TV, so when the xbox one version plex came out it has been my go to plex player since.
Now same great ui as the plex for xbox, hoping for fast updates here, have been a little slow from plex getting software on various players and tvs. Great they finally nativity support lg tvs!!!
New preview versions of products are being offered to PlexPASS subscribers only - like a beta program. So you have to wait until it becomes generally available. Alternatively get PlexPASS but do not complain if there are issues or shortcomings as it appears to be Preview new release
i have LG 47LA667S and i downloaded finally Plex. ( some days ago i used PLAYz but is very slow )
the problem is that when i open PLEX, need Plex Pass Preview and tell me to go plex.tv/pin and insert code.
I insert code without success, why?

Yes, you need to pay. People put time in to develop these things and none of the money you paid for your TV or your computer went to them. So yes, give them a little bit of money in order to let you enjoy your films on your TV using their service.

And the important point is that also i can subscribe only 1 month or year o forever (150ā¬!!!).
is a subscription, not a payment for a program.

If you read the information in the first few posts of this thread you would know this new client is very fast and snappy. However it's still Plex pass preview version so there are features messing that will be added later. The app is optimized fantastic and performs very nice. Looking forward to seeing new updates and missing features at it as time passes.

there are a lot of good benefits to plex pass on top of the LG app. TBH the LG app is not worth the subscription on its own at the moment.
I have been weighing the pros of a PlexPass since I watched it double in price last year. The presence of an official LG app has tipped the scale and I am ready to pay, as soon as I can download and install the app on my TV. I just bought a 65LB7100 webOS TV and it's awsome, but the local Canadian LG Smart World and US version both indicate the app can't be played on my TV:

i logged in to the uk store and got it added to my account through web browser. My LG is abroad so will work out how to get it to the TV at later stage but definitely in the uk store here
