Plex on a local network?

I’ve only been using Plex remotely, if I use it locally what upload speed will I need to stream normally. I’m currently limited to 1mbps upload on my local network and I don’t know if this will be enough to stream content on my local network.

@Mizzouman55 If you’re using it locally you should have a much higher upload speed as you are only limited to the speed of the device and the cord you are using.

If you are playing locally, you should have no issue playing any content over Plex.

How do you mean you currently have 1mbps upload speed on local?

I am assuming what you meant was how I corrected it above. No? If yes–your content will most likely get transcoded down to below 480p quality and you will be able to support 1-2 transcoded streams max.

@lqvnguyen I agree, he/she must mean remotely as locally, you wouldn’t have those upload speeds.

Sorry for the confusion I was asking if I use plex locally to send media to my other devices in my house will I experience any issues. I’m assuming since they’re on the same network there shouldn’t be any issue with streaming. I was just stating that with my current internet plan my network only allows 1 mbps upload speeds.

Locally ethernet speeds are 100Mbps and 1000Mbps, more than enough for local streaming of any content to tens of devices.
