Plex on the Android limits display to 200 albums when you select an album artist. I have 350 albums under ‘various artists’ and due to how poorly composer data is handled (in terms of no music app or media server I’ve ever used supporting composer as a primary, top level sort field), I sort my classical music by putting the composer in the album artist field. With so many large boxed sets of classical music acquired over the years, I have 550 albums of JS Bach, 350 of Mozart etc. So I’m really stuck not being able to see all my albums.
I understand there may be some stability issues with allowing an unlimited number of albums to display (not sure why that would be since you have no problem displaying 1000 artists, or even displaying 5000 albums when the album is the top level sort instead of album artist).
But is there any way to increase the default limit to something around 600? Obviously the ideal is to show all of one’s albums, but an increase from 200 to 600 would solve my immediate problem.
Same Problem here, Plex on Android will only show the first 200 Albums of “Various Artist” and “Die Drei Fragzeichen”, via Web, All Albums are shown.

Yep. I’ve given up on Plex ever really giving a damn about music (or their customers). I don’t know if the app works for video. But I bought my lifetime pass because it seemed like a good way to access my music anywhere. but it’s just rubbish. Plex’s transcoder adds skips and jumps to my lossless music files. Syncing to devices is slow as molasses, unreliable and buggy as hell. And Plex doesn’t seem to care. This old topic was from back when I naively thought Plex cared about making a decent product.
This is a real problem especially in regard to “various artist” albums of which I have over 750. It would be nice to get a response from Plex as to why this hasn’t or can’t be fixed. I currently use the Plex Media Player to play music on my main HTPC in the family room. That app has no problem seeing all of my “various artist” albums. Since HTPC support is going away in 2020 I may change to an Android box to replace the HTPC. Would be nice if the Android music app would let me see all of my “various artist” albums.
There should at least be a way to load a 2nd or “next” screen with the next 200 albums, and the next 200, and so on. If the system will load 200, please at least let us load 200 at a time, then move to the next 200.
Why have a music system that only lists “some” of your music???
who is the challenged individual who made the decision: 'surely one doesn’t need to see all one’s music when browsing or searching a media server? ’ That person should be fired from gross incompetence.
And a year and a half the problem still exists… This is seriously ticking me off. I have large Phish and Grateful Dead collections and use Plex because I cant store them all locally on my phone. Not being able to access a large amount of my content is a serious problem. I think mine may be limited to 100 albums, though the original post says 200.
Yeah this is bogus. I have hundreds of concerts that I just can’t listen to. I’m regretting using Plex. What’s the point if I can’t even access the content I’m using Plex for?
