[bug] Support for more than 200 songs in an album

Appreciate that this is probably a niche request but can you please remove the 200 song limit from an album?

Other Plex players don’t have this limit (well, PMP, Plex for iOS, Plex Web and Plex for LG don’t), just Plexamp.

It’s also worth noting that, on the iOS app, tracks greater than 99 are reported in the UI as “1…” with the last track being “2…” (before you hit the limit)

I feel like this is some kind of technical limitation. I don’t see them just adding this limit for giggles but I have to ask… What album has over 200 songs? The largest album I have is Tiamat - The Arch of the Covenant: The Complete Century Media Years which is 12 discs and 131 tracks. It is properly splitting it into the 12 discs so the track numbers don’t get close to 99+ tracks.

Even with compilations disk albums, they break down 100 tracks of the best of the 80’s into separate disks or volumes.

If you have a self-made album with 200 tracks, just break it down to number of disks or name the albums like:

Best of Animal Sounds [Volume 01] - (100 tracks)
Best of Animal Sounds [Volume 02] - (100 tracks)
Best of Animal Sounds [Volume 03] - (100 tracks)

OR

Best of Animal Sounds [Volume 01]

Disk 01 - 50 tracks
Disk 02 - 50 tracks
Disk 03 - 50 tracks
Disk 04 - 50 tracks

I’ve done this method for DJ sets that I want to keep organized and aren’t actually on a streaming service.

It’s a self made album. Basically “Now that’s what I call music” split into 10 year chunks with all the rubbish songs removed. There are about 600 per album.

However this 200 song limit only exists in Plexamp - it doesn’t exist in Plex for iOS, Plex for LG, Plex for web, Plex Media Player or the API that Plex exposes to Sonos.

You’re right in that I could just split the albums down further. However it does seem a bit silly to go to all that effort to do that when Plex is perfectly happy with albums that size and only one client has an arbitrarily set limit.

The 200 song limit doesn’t exist on the Plex server or in the iOS, LG, web or PMP clients or even the API that Plex users with Sonos.

It might be a technical limitation, but one that only Plexamp has. Which seems a little odd considering it’s positioned as a dedicated music client.

In fairness I did say it was probably a niche request

We’ll fix.

Just got the update today and great to see that the clipping issue is fixed, thank you for that.

Is there any chance that the 200 song limit could also be removed, so that it’s on par with the music functionality in all the other clients?

As I said, we’ll fix.

I am also seeing the same limitations to the number of albums under an artist. My Grateful Dead collection has more than 200 live album releases. Plexamp will only load the first 200 chronologically…will that be fixed as well?

FYI…this app is awesome!

Fixed in next release

thank you. but the limit is also for every android plex app.
Android TV Plex app
Android Plex app
Android Plexamp app

Will everything be fixed?

PS: I can only use 181 albums/artist… not even 200 like most ppl? but well, i hope u will give no limit for everyone after fixing it.

Just got the latest Plexamp and it’s fixed! Thank you

(On a side note, any thoughts about this missing piece of functionality?)

Will be fixed in next release.
