Plex on Android Phone : Infinite Loading when I play a file after a reinstall

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112 (Windows 10)
Player Version#: 8.4.2.19372 (Galaxy A20 Phone)

When I play any video file, it just loads infinite, making the 4 pounds I paid to activate the app a waste. I can’t watch ANYTHING from my server on my phone. Hopefully, there is a solution. Thanks for any help.

This seems like related to the same problem I am having on Android TV.

If you have Plex pass, can you try to install older version (8.2.1 or older) and check if it works?

I dont have plex pass which is really annoying because I really want and wish I had it, but I downloaded an older version of the android app and nothing changed

I asked Plex Pass because forum has links to all prior Plex app versions for subscribers.

You need to install a version older than 8.2.1 and test if the buffering still there or not.

If you still have the same problem to stream videos then it could be related to your transcoding settings on the server or bitrate settings on the Plex app.

Sorry to hear you’re having problems with the app. Before linking this issue with any other issue, it might worth posting app logs following https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/ so the team can review them.

Okay Ill get to that now.

Okay, the logs are attached.logging.txt (934.6 KB) .By the way, in this example, I was trying to watch back to the future, so just ctrl + f and find back to the future to skip to when I start playback. And another thing to note is that Installed plex on an Android emulator on my PC and playback works on there, so that means that it is just my device having this problem. Hopefully, we can find a fix. Thanks for the help!

We haven’t been able to identify the issue from the logs (and I cannot reproduce it on my end), so wondering if you are willing to test a custom build with extra logs to see if we can obtain more info about the issue.

Funny enough I have same issue… my Andiod S9+ just continues to load but I can sync download file and its going good speeds but play anything local or remote just try’s for ever even mp3…

Working fine on my samsung TV

And ideas ps I have been Plex user since start lol

I’ve got no clue. It works fine on my Smart TV too. Ive reinstalled PMS and tried everything I can think of. Its just my device too. I really hope plex can fix kr even diagnose the issue.
