Plex on AppleTV won't play audio to Sonos via Airplay after pause

Server Version#: 1.28.0.5999
Player Version#: 8.6 (3177)

When using Sonos speakers via Airplay on an AppleTV with the Plex app, the Sonos speakers (Sonos One SL/Beam in my case) no longer work after pausing the media for more than a few seconds.

This happens only with Sonos speakers. HomePods/HomePod Minis connected via Airplay both continue working when playback resumes, even after hours. Additionally, when both HomePods and Sonos speakers are used, after pausing the HomePods continue to work, but the Sonos speakers do not. Notably, the Airplay controls show them to still be connected, so it’s not that they’ve disconnected entirely.

Furthermore, on all other apps I’ve tried, this is not an issue and you can pause the content and audio playback will resume on all speakers, HomePod and Sonos alike, leading me to believe this is a unique issue to the Plex app.

I have this issue too, updating my Sonos to the latest software update helped. Most of the time the Sonos book speakers pick up the audio after an pause/unpause now.

What also sometimes works is when you unpause it, roll whatever you were playing back a few seconds and then unpause it. Often this causes a resync once the video catches up to the moment you originally paused it.
