Plex on Chromecast for Google TV: 4K mp4 videos from Android camera cannot be played (no picture, only sound)

Hi,

Moved from Samsung TV apps to Chromecast for Google TV. Many things are working now (e. g. webm).

For whatever reason ALL videos from Samsung Galaxy Android camera stopped working. They cannot be played, but you can hear the sound of them - no picture.

After further tests: ALL mp4s from all years from all different Samsung Galaxy camera apps cannot be played. “Playing not possible” is the message each time after around 10 seconds waiting. Then the audio only starts to play, but no picture. Only in FOTOS. Any other is working.

At Plex server in browser they are working.

Is this an issue with the Plex app available on Google TV?

Similar behavior here, chromecast with google tv.

If the library is built as a photo library, all videos are not played, only the sound is played.
If the library is built as a personal video library, videos are played ok, but photos cannot be seen.

Conclusion: it is not a device/driver/codec issue, but a player issue, specific on chromecast with google tv.

Most of the people are collecting their personal photos and movies in collections in the same folders, with folder’s name based on subject (trips, anniversaries, etc.) so it is very useful to be able to play personal videos in the same library with photos.

On PC and Samsung TV all ok (videos found in photo libraries are played ok) but not on chromecast with google tv.

Please help/update the player.

LE: Just checked plex add-on for kodi on chromecast with google tv, and it’s working (movies are played even in photo libraries), so the problem is only the native plex client for chromecast

Exactly right. Same results at all of my tests. Can somebody from Plex please reply if Plex crew can work on this very soon?

During this weekend it starts to work in an “undefined way” as newly added videos are working in almost all cases and some old are working sometimes and sometimes not. (Before no video was working.)
