Hi there,
the Plex Server on my Synology DS218+ keeps crashing, sometimes multiple times a week. I’m not sure what to look for in all of those logs, so I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Please let me know if there’s more information that I can share.
I updated the server to the latest version and had a few days without any incidents. The server crashed again during the past week. When I restarted the server in DSM, my volume crashed shortly thereafter.
I’ve attached the latest logs. Anything I should look out for?
Make sure all volumes are scrubbed (tested for consistency) (will take time)
SMART test all physical drives. (extended test)
Look for Uncorrected or Pending sectors (non-repairable or others waiting to be fixed).
These drives should never show any bad spots. The manufacturer has included enough spares. When you start to see bad spots, it’s time to replace it QUICKLY because it has already started to die.
Hi @ChuckPa, thanks for the advice. I scrubbed all volumes and ran the extended SMART tests on all drives. All came back without any issues. Drives are shown as healthy, SMART ID 187, 197 and 198 all have values of 100.
Out of frustration, I set up the NAS from scratch, changed the filesystem back to ext4, set up a new Plex Server from scratch. Didn’t help, still crashing.
Updated to 4021 yesterday. Just had it crash again while selecting an episode of a show. Nothing was playing at the time. I’m attaching the DMP file from the new 4021 folder. Or did you need something else?
