I am a new user to Plex and wanted to use it to listen to music that is on my computer on my Alexa without using Bluetooth. So, I made a plex account, put my test song in a folder which I put in my library.
The song was there and I connected the server to my Echo and I hear this: “Your plex server, does not appear to be online, would you like to use a different server?”
I was on the Media Server (on my laptop) and was fully online, running and connected.
I did all the steps in troubleshooting, I have no vpn or proxies on my macbook and I signed in/out and disabled/reenabled the skill.
I was going to contact the Plex team, but I have to go through the forums, can anyone assist me?
I get similar issues and the skill works only some of the time. It’s really disappointing and I hope the skill is still being worked on and updated soon, feels abandoned.
I get this all the time. I can’t be certain, but it seems to relate to when my public IP address changes. After much restarting of plex, disabling and re-enabling remote access, etc. it will work for a few days. I’ve tried setting “custom server access URLs” (I have a dynamic domain name), but that seems to make no difference.
Plex remote access is enabled and fully functional, it’s only Alexa that seems to have the connection issues. Letting it pick a different server it says “I can only find a single server connected…” - if it can find it connected, why can’t it connect to it? The way it says “your plex server (pause) does not appear to be online” suggests that it’s forgetting which server to connect to.
