Plex on External Hard Drive but two different computers?

Hi all,

New to the forums and I just had a few questions.

  1. I was able to install the plex directory onto my external hd, set up a path so that the meta data saved on my external hd and all my content is on the same hd. I did this all on my windows tablet which was what I was mainly using for plex but I would like to use my desktop instead. I tried plugging in my external hd and running plex off the hd on my desktop but my other devices are not able to connect to the server (says the server is offline).

  2. Is it possible to add a poster to folders for the other video type? They look bland.

Where is the Plex server?

I don’t know what you are talking about.
Plex server is a program.
It will not install on a tablet or external HD!
