Plex on iPad Out of Sync

Server Version#: 1.23.1.4602
Player Version#: 7.18

My current issue: Audio out of sync until total audio loss.

About 2 minutes in, the audio begins to go out of sync (the audio is ahead of the video), and at around 4 minutes audio lost completely.

I tried using iPad Safari browser to stream Plex, and it also has same audio issues.

Tech notes: iPad-2018 WiFi over 5ghz from Synology NAS DS920+. Dashboard says video and audio are Direct Play for both.

Version 1.23.1.4602 for Synology, updated a couple days ago.

Audio is NOT out of sync or lost on Apple TV (ethernet) or MacBook Pro over WiFi.

Some random background info:

I began using the new 2021 Apple TV, early last week. All the Plex app settings didn’t transfer over, so I set them up the best I could.

I played a movie, and noticed the audio was out of sync. I tweaked some settings in Plex to see if the new ATV was configured correctly. I don’t know what I did, but the audio sync was corrected. I’ve watched several things on the ATV since without sync issues.

I had this issue on my iPad as well, if you go to settings :arrow_right: advanced :arrow_right: turn off the “Use old Video Player” toggle. Audio is properly synced again.

There is a downside to this however the new player doesn’t seem to support subtitles for downloaded content. :man_shrugging:

Thanks for that suggestion, however this setting was already toggled off.

A new Plex update is available, and I was thinking that may help. I decided to confirm the audio problem a last time before updating.

Somehow, between yesterday and today, the audio is back in sync and not cutting out. Something resolved itself. It would be nice to know how this happened, though.
