Plex on QNap NAS - some movies are not detected

Server Version#: 1.41.4.9463
Player Version#:

I have rebuild my NAS TS-433 because of a HDD failure. Now I have re-installed Plex and my libraries. All libraries are new, not from a backup. Only the files itself…

But:
In my movie libraries, SOME (I found now 2) movies are not detected. I can see that plex will “see” them (in the top right corner), but thats all. Naming is Movie Title. I also tried movie title (year), or file name-year.mkv, but nothing works. All others with same naming structure = no problem.
1.) Why?
2.) How can I find out, which one are ignored by Plex? Is this logged somewhere?
3.) Can I add titels manually? With e.g. a nfo file?

A third one which has had the same issue worked after I put the year in () in the folder name. But these are stubborn :frowning:

Best,
Lutz

There could be lots of reasons.

Of the three movies you have determined had the problem what is the actual file & folder name of one of them.

Have you tried filtering on duplicates to see if they were merge with something else?

Going to side with BigWheel here 99.9% of missing files is either listed as duplicates or due to file naming issues. Releases · WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG · GitHub can be used to export a list of matched file names.

For example ‘Top Gun (1986)’ File name is: hdsource-topgun-1986.mkv.
The 2nd part Top Gun: Maverick is listed (without year in brackets)

Sorry…this I dont understand. For what is this tool good for?

I found them in duplicates. Thanks
Have to split them and then i can fix the match

Plex DocumentationYour MediaNaming & Organizing Your Movie Files

For best results, follow Plex naming and organization guidelines.

For example:

/movies <-- folder added to library
  /Top Gun (1986) <-- movie_name (year)
    /Top Gun (1986).mkv <-- movie_name (year).ext; ext = mp4/mkv/etc.

thank you.
But I found them now in duplicates…splitted them and fixed the match. Worked
