Plex on Raspberry Pi with a HFS+ Drive

So I’ve built up a nice big library on my Macbook, with a 3TB Drive connected using HFS+. I have a 16GB SD for Raspbian, I have another 16GB SD that I’ve installed Rasplex on. A few questions… I’m a n00b to Linux, so please be gentle.

  1. Can I move my library (ie. not the content) from my Macbook to either Plex running on Raspbian or RaspPlex? If so does it go into /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/
  2. I’ve ran this sudo apt-get install hfsplus hfsutils hfsprogs to read HFS+ drives and it seems to be working. What more do I need for Plex or RasPlex to see the drive in the same was as the library files?
  3. I’m wanting this to be the Plex Server, I like that I can so easily swap between my Raspbian and RasPlex. But I’m having problems with my other devices on the network. I think this is a thread all of its own.

My prime objective right now is to move Plex from OSX to either Raspbian or RasPlex and how to setup the HSF+ drive with the content. Thanks everyone.

Rasplex is a Plex client only, you cannot run PMS on the same device.

You can install PMS on a RPi3, see the Linux section - ‘I have PMS running on a RPi2’ and using a second RPi2/3 running Rasplex as the client.

I have the same issue.
Have a 4T HFS+ external hard drive full of movies that my Plex Media Server installed on raspbberry pi 4 can’t recognized the folders.
Does anyone know a way to solve that?

get ready for “chuck” to send his all in one walk through. It has comand lines for mounting 3 different drive types at the same time with random notes intertwined. No need to copy and paste because if you dont allready know linux comands and directory structure you will be lost. Hope that helps.

Any chance we can get a walkthough cheat sheet that deals just with ntfs and doesnt have the name chuck stamped all over it? Jeez.
