Ever since I switched to larger HDDs, which are fairly noisy, I have noticed that Plex every day at the same time (02:00 AM) starts doing library scans on my NAS (I saw it in SMB logs) which take far longer (well over an hour) than the ones I occasionally start manually.
I don’t want that and I don’t need that. I’ve been through settings, but I didn’t see an option to disable scheduled scanning jobs. I’ve read there are hidden settings, but I haven’t gone through that process, as I haven’t seen in hidden settings description an option to turn this off. (Maybe I’ve missed it?)
The only solution for me is to either cut off connection to Shield or pull the plug from the wall socket. Both options are really inconvenient and I simply can’t accept that there is no option to turn this “feature” off. So, is there any more elegant way to turn those scheduled scanning jobs off?
It’s working fine in between those scans, so I really don’t see the need for scans every single day.
Then again, I don’t have Scheduled Tasks nor Library in my Plex on Shield. I don’t know if I should be looking elsewhere, but the Plex server I used to run directly from NAS had way way more options on it’s interface.
or point a browser at the IP address of the server. For example, if the IP address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web. After you login, click on the wrench icon in the upper right corner of the window, next to your account and activity icon.
I used to log into Plex server via NAS, and I wasn’t aware of this option. For whatever reason, I never thought of even trying to log into Plex on Shield via IP and port… Lesson learned.
I tweaked the settings a little bit, but I am still a bit puzzled as to why there is no simple off button.
