Plex on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is ignoring preferred interface setting

Server Version#: 1.25.4.5468
Player Version#: NA

Plexmedaiserver is binding itself to 0.0.0.0 even though I have a preferred network interface set in the configuration. I do not want it to bind to any other IP addresses on the server and would like it to respect the setting. Right now, it isn’t.

The server always binds to 0.0.0.0:32400. That setting just changes the behaviour on how it reports the server to Plex.tv for client connections.

Well it really shouldn’t. That setting should specify which interface/IP address the plex service is binding to. On a host with multiple IP addresses/uses, there’s no reason for it to bind to 0.0.0.0 and I see that as somewhat of a security problem, particularly if that host has an internet interface.

ufw the beast.

but, what is the logic of installing it on an internet connected server if you don’t want it on the internet?
