I just received the new Windows 10 interface through the preview program on Xbox One and I’m having problems watching videos. Basically what happens is that the interface works as usual, but when you launch a video it is super choppy. Anyone else on the preview program with the new interface experiencing this problem? I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app as well as doing a hard reset on the Xbox.
Same issue. I haven’t done much testing to see if it’s a certain type of videos.
Disabling Direct Play fixed it for me.
Please post this in the Xbox One Preview forums for Microsoft to see.
There is probably some bug with MKV playback for 3rd party apps.
Did a little research. Looks like Direct Playing MKV files causes the stutter. MP4/M4V files will Direct Play with no issues. As bbuckles76 said, disabling Direct Play works. You can keep Direct Stream on.
For some reason I am not able to access the preview forums, but I should have that fixed soon. I’ll definitely post there once I have access though. I should note that I’m still having problems with some videos even with direct play disabled, but I haven’t had time to test out what types of videos and other settings yet.
There are plenty of posts about this problem on the xbox preview forums. So don’t worry Microsoft have been informed.
just in case if anyone is interested you are able to get cortana on your xbox one if you have the new dashboard by doing this
Hit the Xbox button twice to bring up the guide.
Navigate down to settings (which is the gear symbol).
Press left to enter the settings options.
Press up until none of the words in the menu are highlighted. You should only need to press up once.
Now, hit the A button on your controller a couple of times.
The Xbox One should automatically take you to the Cortana app to set it up.
I have used it for only a few minutes when i found about this works pretty good for something really early on in testing
I don’t have a Kinect so I doubt I’ll use Cortana a lot on the xbox but yes, those steps work well.
