Seemingly out of nowhere, the plex app on my Xbox One is unable to direct play my files. I try to play a movie and its just constant stuttering, skipping. Unwatchable. Then when I go to a lower quality so transcoding starts, it plays fine. Any one else seeing this? Or know what the issue might be?

Disabling Direct play fixes the issue
Rewinding a couple of (times) seconds fixes it too… no need to disable direct play.
I have exactly the same problem on the new dashboard. Every MKV starts with heavy stutter. I wait ~15 seconds, then hit the left D-pad and mostly the video plays fine after that.
I have the same problem on the new Xbox one dashboard. Where do I disable direct play.? Is it a global setting? What so the downside of not using direct play?
Don’t know where to post this but it appears I only get the stuttering when using AAC or AC3 audio tracks. I have tested DTS 5.1 and MP3 and they don’t have the stuttering. So is a good clue
The trick of waiting 15 seconds and the rewinding or hitting back on the d-pad is a good work around to the stuttering videos.
Disabling direct play is a global setting to all videos in Plex. You get to it by pressing the menu button on your controller and selecting ‘Settings’ there.
The downsides of not using Direct Play are generally slower video startup and potentially reduction in image quality.
