Honestly DLNA isn't good enough for me anymore.
PUSHING movies from a source via DLNA is currently working on Xbox One, BROWSING DLNA from the xbox one itself is not in.
I'm assuming you're talking about the PlayTo functionality? That's the only method of pushing media to the Xbox One at this time AFAIK.
I would also pay for an xbox one app. Would love it

PlayTo is just how you do it in windows. Any DLNA source that can push to a target will work (android phones, for example).
Having a fully functioning plex app on xbone would be enough for me to buy the console, and I rarely game.
Just my 2p. Would pay for Plex on my Xbone, would be wonderful.
Plex app would be so legit! Can't wait. Hope development has started!???
I think it is just a matter of time:
The Xbox One OS, Windows 8.x OS and Windows Phone 8 OS already share a common Windows NT core. As we've heard before, Microsoft is working to deliver a single app store across its myriad Windows platforms. Company officials also are laboring to make the developer toolset for all three of these platforms more similar.
Looks like VLC might be a go to option for the XBox One. http://www.wpcentral.com/vlc-windows-8-and-windows-phone-almost-ready So what’s the status of the port of VLC to “WinRT”? Here’s what the team now has going for with VLC: •Support for all usual VLC formats, including MKV and FLAC •Audio •Video, (with correct aspect ratios) •Basic subtitles support •File and network stream support •A simple, but working UI •Passing the WACK certification •Working on Windows 8 and 8.1
With the version of IE on Xbox One that supports HTML5, why not use Plex Web as your client?

Sounds interesting but I'm looking for more than just watching a video on my XB1.

I believe people have tried and it didn't work.
I would really love to see a Plex App for the XBOX One!
After having the Xbox One for just a few weeks I'm really impressed with it, it really is an all in one entertainment system, buuuuut it is short of a handle of apps. While some are currently in development and will arrive shortly (BBC iPlayer, MUZU, ITV Player?), I would absolutely die if you were to bring Plex to Xbox One, because at the moment I am currently having to switch between my lovely voice controlled and futuristic setup, to my dumb TV and Media Link.... and while this would be okay, ARC over the HDMI is buggy as hell, and it regularly takes me as much as 10 - 20 minutes to get the audio to go through my amp.
The only issues I foresee with Plex on Xbox One is framerate (it runs at 60fps by default, which is causing issues with UK tv and video apps which have 50fps video content... hopefully this will be fixed when full UK TV is working - although you can make it output at 50fps in the meantime), also sound. I want an Xbox version of Plex to direct stream the video and audio to my Xbox, no compression or format alteration, just as my LG TV does it... it will make me so happy if this is possible =)
So yeah, bring Plex to Xbox One, you're basically there will your splendid Windows 8 app (though if that did PlayTo that would be awesome in the meantime!).
Plex on Xbox one would absolutely be a hit for MS and Plex. I have one and it is just begging for an app to bring all media to it. I have a mac mini with PHT running but Netflix and Amazon are a better experience on the Xbox. With the home movies coming through the same interface plus the streaming services and live TV - it would be AWESOME!
Please!!! pretty please with sugar on top.
I don't have an Xbox One, but will buy one if it had plex on it.
+1 for PLEX on Xbox One! I bought the PLEX app for both my Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets. I'm not currently a Plex Pass subscriber because i haven't had a need but i would gladly sign up for Plex Pass if they released an app to the Xbox One.
This would solve all my media management problems as well. I currently use a Drobo 5n as a media server and push content to my XBOX ONE via the Skifta app on my iPhone. It works, but it's clumsy. Browsing the file structure on the 360 was just as clumsy. A native app is the way to go. I'd be happy to pay a reasonable fee, or see access included as a part of a PlexPass. I'd love to make sure what the possibilities are before I finish encoding my media library too…
If a Plex App for XBOX ONE is released, would that mean that no transcoding would need to be done on the server side to play full bitrate bluray .mkv files?
I have a Synology NAS and pretty much the only client that can play my files is a full blown PC, it would be so awesome if the Xbox One could handle my files with no transcoding needed from the Synolgy or if Synology would finally release a NAS box with a proper CPU/GPU that could handle all the transcoding.
Edit: I would certainly be in for $50 - $100 via whatever channel(kickstarter, plexpass, app purchase) for a full-blown Xbox One APP. Not having to run a full HTPC right next to my Xbone would be amazing!
As far as I know, the Xbox One doesn't support .mkv natively therefore I guess transcoding would be necessary.
I am gonna add my 5 cents as well.
I would love plex on my xbox one, so i could sell my roku 3 (used as a tv input)
Please make it happen!
