Plex only outputting stereo since 8/13/19 PS4 update

Server Version#: 1.16.4.1469-6d5612c2f_amd64
Player Version#: PS4 Plex 4.1.1 or 4.4.1 (I’m too pissed to turn the ps4 on again, to check) Latest version, anyway.

Tonight, I turned on the system and was greeted with an ‘authorize this device’ screen, so I’m assuming there was an update that occurred, some time between midnight and 7PM.

Ever since I reauthorized, all multi-channel media is playing in stereo.

It’s not the PS4. Netflix, games, etc. all work as expected.

And tonight was supposed to be a Godzilla marathon. Come on.

No replies? Ugh. I was forced to update, now my surround sound music is not surrounding me. Reeeediculous.

Plex is direct streaming eac 5.1. It’s the ps4 app.

I have the same problem using PS4 Plex 4.1.1 … after todays update… Surround files (video and audio) doesn’t work anymore… =(…

Your not alone mate, i feel your pain! - Plex PS4 App following update, no longer works with AC3 audio

I posted the exact same thing earlier on tonight. I updated my server and client software on the PS4 so am unsure which has caused it, but streaming to the PS4, it downgrades everthing to ProLogic/Stereo.

Does anyone know how to alert a Plex ninja for fixing this issue?

No idea unfortunately, this issue is the first time I’ve had to come to the forum. Touch wood Plex server and all the various plex clients have worked perfectly since I started using them. This issue though, unfortunately isnt something we can resolve through tinkering, or reconfiguring. The PS4 Client app is straight up broken.

Same issue here. Ever since the latest update any surround media (AAC 5.1, DD, DTS, PCM) only plays in stereo. Everything worked fine as of last week.
Glad to see others are having the same issue as i’ve been beating my brain trying to figure out wtf happened.

I also lost 5.1 AC3 on the Plex PS4 App version 4.1.1. Hope we get a fix soon. Thank you.

Same with me as well on my two PS4’s. Bizarrely my Sonos playbar says it’s receiving 5.1 but there is no sound !

Have to uncheck both 5.1 options in the app and then just get stereo to get any sound.

Would be good if this could get fixed or we could just roll back to the previous version of the PS4 app which worked fine.

DItto. Same issue on my PS4, 4 days ago.

I noticed the PS4 Plex app audio settings only have Dolby (AC3) as an option, was this always the case?

The Plex server stream status used to say Transcoding audio [Whatever source] > DTS. It’s now direct playing everything and it seems the PS4 isn’t sending it properly to my receiver.

Same. Issue. Highly disappointed. What’s the point in having plex and 5.1 setup if everything is now stereo. Have to jsut plug hdd to my ps4 or TV directly and navigate the folders myself…

It worked fine I til last update. Its even got rid of dts and everything too! It sometimes shows stereo or 5.1 but it only outputs as no sound at all or stereo.

Very bad move plex… First you stop TV mode on the desktop app… So I’m forced to use ps4 or ps4 or ps4 or nothing to watch on my TV and that doesn’t work either anymore?

I’m so glad I ended my plex plus.

Can also confirm the problem, but it looks like they are looking into it, so just need to wait for the fix.

Plex Guru’s, any news on when we’re likely to see a fix? The PS4 app has been rendered all but useless since the last update (7 days ago) breaking pass-through of any and all digital surround. Thanks.

Seriously, why couldn’t they just roll it back to the previous version until they release a real fix? Just goes to show you NO ONE cares about the consumer anymore or QC. I’m less surprised by Plex and more that Sony allowed it thru and didn’t find it…
