Woohooo! Ok, that’s the bank holiday weekend done and dusted, what a blast in the glorious sun! Now then, how about relaxing movie?
Hol’up a minute… It’s still busted!!! Ok, jokes over. This is taking the p*ss now.
Right, just to address some of the post since my last. I was initially impressed with the speed in which Plex responded to this post after @ogarling asked how to contact them. It was quick. The facts it’s now been 15 days and the apps still broken!?!? Well my good will is all but gone.
As for the “working with Sony” and the comments regarding “binary updates”. I’ve never heard anything more ridiculous. Let’s just look at the facts shall we. The Last PS4 system update that rolled out was version 6.72 on the 16th July.
Plex’s App along with EVERYONE else’s (aka Netflix and Amazon’s) all worked perfectly, passing digital surround correctly before the PS4 update on the 16th July and EVERYONE’s continued to work afterwards too. In fact neither Netflix or Amazon have updated their apps on the PS4 since the 3rd April 2019 (Netflix) and 26th of April 2019 (Amazon)
All was well in the digital streaming arena on PS4 until the 14th August when Plex updated their own app and subsequently broke it. This isn’t a Sony issue, it doesn’t require “working with Sony” because they haven’t changed anything. If they had, we’d expect to see updates to the OTHER streaming services which we haven’t.
There is no reason the app couldn’t be rolled back, but I accept the decision was made not to, fair enough. But were at the 15th day now, with a broken app.
You’ve rolled out two server updates since the 14th but not a single PS4 update and certification with Sony DOESNT take this long. Granted it used to, but they’ve been a lot more relaxed on the speed in which patching and updates can be rolled out on their platform for a long time now. This whole situation is ridiculous at this point.
