Also I dont know any of the plex bods, so wouldnt know who to PM. I’d also like to point out, what’s the point of the forums, if a post that is now 6 months old and updated on average every 6 days since the day it was posted (by me) goes completely unnoticed and requires users to contact the developers directly.
If the forums are being used properly they are well aware of this issue/post, and are simply ignoring it. If they’re not aware of this issue/post then like I said, these forums must be pointless then, and begs the question why even operate them.
From my point of view, as I’ve said before. I’ve no problem keeping this post alive forever. The issue doesnt look to be ever getting fixed. But highlighting the sheer level of incompetence over at plex has amused me immensely for awhile now.
Personally I doubt they will ever fix this. I had to give up on the PS4 app when they made a change over a year ago that broke all interlaced video playback. Up to that point I’d been usng DVR for well over a year and playing back recordings via the PS4 app with no problem (all Australian FTA channels broadcast in interlaced video). Their app update broke this overnight. Their response was to say that interlaced playback had never worked on the PS4 (without transcoding) and wasn’t supported by Sony. So presumably I’d imagined my previous years’ worth of recording and viewing. They even did tests on files and ‘confirmed’ they wouldn’t direct play on either old or new app versions;. They could offer no explanation for how I’d been using the app successfully to watch interlaced recordngs prior to the update that broke that. The implication was that I was delusional or lying… The PS4 app clearly has little or no priority for them and never will.
Oh and I completely agree, in which case they should straight up delete the PS4 app from existence. But whilst they continue to tout there shoddy embarrasment of an App on the platform, i’ll take a break from time to time, to nip in here and highlight what a joke it has become. What are we at now? 6 months since they broke it. Bravo.

Please don’t delete the PS4 app. I use it daily. It seems to be outputting 5.1 as well. whether it’s “real” 5.1 or some fake mix version I don’t know, but it sounds fine.
