I’m having an issue with Plex only seeing SOME MKV files. Example is: I have a folder on my Synology drive for Demon Slayer. I own the first 4 seasons, and all files follow the same naming scheme. Example: Demon Slayer - SE1 - Ep1-4.
However, Plex is ONLY seeing SE1 - EP10-13 through Ep23-26. It’s not seeing the start of season 1, or any of the other seasons at all. I’ve tried changing the naming scheme, that did not help. I’ve rebuilt the library 3x now, and I even tried moving everything on the Synology drive to new folders, and then rebuilding the library from there, but Plex still only sees 17 episodes…
Because it tries really, really hard to make sense of what it sees. Sometimes it can figure things out, until it doesn’t. That inconsistency in the face of unsupported naming schemes is why it’s best to stick to what’s officially supported. That way meaningful troubleshooting can be performed.
Plex supports “SxxEyy” where xx is the season (01 for example) and yy is the episode (02 for example). So you might end up with something like “Show Name - S01E02 - Episode Title.ext.” Though the episode title part is completely optional (as is the show name, technically, that’s only really needed in the folder name).

I moved all of Season 1 into its own folder, like the document in the link said, and then renamed everything to Demon Slayer - SE1Epx-x and now Plex sees even less files than before. It now only sees a couple of episodes, and a bunch of my files now show a RED TRASHCAN on them.
