Plex Opens to a Black Screen on Both My Samsung TVs

The Plex TV app was working fine yesterday for me. Today it just opens to a black screen. The Plex logo doesn’t even appear, it’s just all black. I thought it was just on the one TV but it’s happening to both Samsung TVs in my house. I tried the recommended solutions online, power cycling my TVs, my NAS server, and my modem and router, but they all don’t work.

Plex works fine on the web browser on my computer, and the Plex apps function all right on my iPad and iPhone. I tried casting within the Plex app on my iPad to the TV, but it doesn’t work. The only way I can play my Plex content on my TVs now is via screen mirroring.

Would like to seek help on this, please.

I am having this exact same issue on my vizio tv. I went so far as to factory reset the TV and its still broken

Still having the issue? Suddenly on my vizio TV the plex app can open, can play the live tv channels in the app (so I know it is connecting to the internet), but it cannot connect to my server.

I started having this issue a couple of days ago on my Samsung TV, haven’t tried any solutions yet, has anybody come up with a solution so I can save myself the troubleshooting?

Are you still experiencing this problem? I started struggling with this yesterday on a Samsung TV too. Tried restarting, reinstalling etc to no avail, and was constructing a post to document my experiences.

Part of doing this, I turned on ‘Log to Media Server’ in the Samsung App (Settings → Advanced → Log to Media Server → Enabled). And when recreating the issue - it started working!

No idea if this is a coincidence - probably, but you never know? I’ve since switched off the logging, and it still works. :person_shrugging:
