Plex not opening on Samsung TV for anyone else?

Suddenly today, the app stopped opening on my Samsung TV. All it does is go to a black screen. Reinstalling and power cycling the TV doesn’t seem to do anything.

It’s their flagship from last year and it’s gotten multiple updates since September. It was working fine until today.

I can’t even open the app to change the settings, as soon as I start the app, the screen is just black.

It’s a strange issue. Additionaly it says this only impacts internet connections, my server is on the same network as my TV.

The announcement linked by dokuro refers to all encrypted/secure connections between your server and its clients – it’s not specific to internet vs. local connections.

You could rule this potential issue out by changing the server’s network settings to disable secure connections (Settings > [Server Name] > Network > Secure connectionsDisabled). If it’s working with secure connections disabled, this could still be this issue.

If this isn’t producing any results… have you tried uninstalling/resetting and re-installing the Plex app on your Samsung TV?

I have exactly the same problem since yesterday. Worked just fine the day before.

I don’t know if an update caused it or what, but I managed to fix it by uninstalling the app, hard restarting the TV by unplugging it for a few minutes, and reinstalling the app after.

My TV fixed itself it seems. It was fine this morning again when I tried it.
