Server Version#: 1.40.3.8502
Player Version#: 5.64.1
Black screen as soon as open Plex app on the TV.
Reinstall app : Same issue.
Cleared Cached : Same issue
Delete and reinstalled : Same issue
Removed from authorised devices : Same issue.
Upgraded to the newest synology beta version to see if that helps, : Same issue.
Nothing on the logs at all , not even trying to access the Plex server.
All other apps working perfectly on TV.
Nvidia shield works fine, web plex works fine.
Looks very similar to the LG issue people been having past few days.
Any ideas???
(Yes I know, stick with nvidia shield)
It started okay an hour ago okay, straight away when opened. Had to register the device again but that was expected.
Closed the plex app and then same again. Waiting ages for it. I stopped after 4 minutes.
One thing that I did notice was the plex pass extra stuff gone, and the plex app looked like an older version. Looked and felt , for a better word, clunky.
The force playback option disappeared, this was the solution to certain files stopping after a few seconds on playback.
This happened to me earlier today (~6 hours ago). Sat on the black screen for about 10 minutes before the animated âPlexâ logo appeared and the app started up. The kids have taken over the TV for now, so I canât check to see if itâs still the same.
Edit - yep, still doing it. Sits on the black screen for 4 minutes before starting up.
Edit 2 - and yes, all plex pass features are gone. So no skipping of opening titles, credits, adverts etc.
Same issue here, black screen after loading screen logo. Have done the uninstall app and reauthorise tv on server like bert0901. Not left beyond a few mins tho will try that later.
Not working on my Panasonic this evening either. I get a sign up after about 4 minutes to say that it canât find the config file, and both options to ârestartâ or âclear settings and restartâ do nothing but present the black screen. All services appear green on the Plex service page and I can run it on my laptop. TV is up to date, as is Plex server, and it was running fine this morning.
If I turn off the wi-fi on the TV and then try and start the app, it will say I need to turn the wi-fi back on, but it will start the app straight away. Presumably there is a server check that occurs on startup that is failing or timing out, but the network isnât ready so it fails immediately and starts the app. I assume this is with the main plex servers, as opposed to my PMS server.
Iâm having the same issue. If I pull the network cable the app goes from black screen to starting as normal. I can log in as normal too and use it as expected. When in restart the app I have to do it all again!
Obviously some sort of network handshake not working at the Plex end?
I have 2 samsung TVs, on one it is very slightly slower than usual I think, but only 20 seconds, but on the other it does the circling loading, then about 4/5 minutes for the plex logo to come up.
On the one that is only slightly slower, I also noticed when I just tested it (it had been on the app and this only started at some point today) that I was signed out.
No updates on either server or TV (though I did update the server after the issue started, no improvement)
Yep same here
Pulling the network cable before starting the app doesnât work as the TV wonât let me start the app with no internet connection.
Start the app and then pull the cable and it works.
If I leave it on the black screen I get about 30 seconds of black before the app launches.
Yes. This is now working for me too. I saw in another thread that the Tizen app is akin to a bootloader, that downloads the newer/current app on startup. This presumably explains why Plex is among the slowest TV apps I have to boot, and also why disabling the network results in an older version of the app running.
Thanks go to the WebTV team for correcting it last night.
If I may comment on why the app loads slow.
The splash screen was originally much faster and had more in it.
I am photosensitive (epileptic)
It caused me problems while doing the QA
â Iâve not had an event in 12 years and donât want to risk one and not driving for 6+ months afterwards.
In consideration of others like myself, Engineering agreed to slow things down.
Itâs not really the speed and animation of splash screen that I experience slowness with - itâs a delay after the splash screen (while it is static) and before the user selection appears. That said, with the new Samsung TV itâs much faster than my old 2019 LG, which sat on a static the splash for 10-20 seconds.
