I have emby premium for lifetime but it does have a few problems like the remote access or that the quality from the videos is not that good like with the vlc player with nvidia shield tv.
My question is if plex is better than emby and why or should I stick with emby?
I recommend giving Plex a test run so you can see for yourself how you feel about it.
I tried Emby about 2 years ago and the experience wasn’t bad, but Plex really has the extra polish that just makes it a joy to use. Will there be issues, of course, but overall, everything works fairly well!

Try Plex Free and it will already be better than Emby. You won’t be able to use GPU for transcoding (only iGPU) or PlexAmp (mobile music player), but you still can have an idea.
Or pay for a month and try eveything.
Plex is better by far, it’s not even close.
This is a plex forum, so it is a little biased but just try it out yourself, you can do almost everything with the free version.
the terramaster doesn’t have an GPU.
I had plex for a year. I liked it but it didn’t find all Tv shows. I used kodi than and now emby. Plex is better on the PC as well. Emby just doen’t work on the browser.
I use emby local. I would use Plex local as well. Does not need transcode only when a differnt household want to watch videos

Plex has a new TV Show agent which is much faster and “better”. If it does not find a show you can match it by hand by that happens like once a year tops for me. You can also name your directory now with imdb ot tvdb ids so it always finds the correct show no matter what.
Skip intro works very well, however, depending on your library size, it takes some time to scan through all shows initially.
You can stream to different households in full quality as well, if your connections permit it, in case you did not know that.
Idk if sync is a plexpass feature.

As Orko said, intro detection works very well, but just be aware of:
- Short intros of less than 20 seconds are ignored.
- Intros ending more than halfway into an episode will not be detected.
And sync still transcodes even if your client has support for the codec. That’s the down side.

How would you connect if you are offline?
I don’t own Nvidia shield but from what i have read on the forum people seem to be happy with plex and the shield.

I don’t know the Nvidia shield but I can download videos on my tablet and phone and watch while offline.
I will test the free version for a while.
If I like it I will pay for the lifetime membership. To bad i bought emby as well.

I don’t know why but it doesn’t find any movies although the name is correct. Find everything in TV series. Anime I don’t know yet
Like, does it not match? Does it not show the directories/files at all?
If nothing is shown at all it’s likely that it’s a file permission issue and the plex user can not access/read the files. If it does not match the naming is off or you chose personal media agent or something like that
Just a picture from a scene in the movie. This is exactly the same when I first used Plex. Emby found everything
When you hover over a picture you can click the 3 dots in the lower right corner of the picture there you can click “Match…” of “Fix Match…” and try to match those yourself, but if it does not find ANY movie there is a configuration issue somewhere.
Can you post your dir structure and some dirs/file names you are using.
Also under Settings → manage → libraries → advanced what scanner and agents are you using?

It did found the movie because there are the pictures from the actors but the movie poster is just a video scene. Fix match does not work. It did found a few Poster but most of them are just like I said pictures from a scene in the movie. I tried every scanner
The correct scanner is “Plex Movie”, the correct agent is “Plex Movie” you should not change that.
Library type is movie?
When you get just a scene pic instead of a movie poster it either did not find metadata or did not match the movie or maybe there are non available. What do you mean by fix match does not work?
Can you post a picture of what the fix match dialog window brings up?

Under Settings → manage → libraries → advanced do you have “prefer local assets” and “prefer local metadata” enabled? if so disable those.
