I want to know if there is a way to use multiple Nvidia Shields to access Plex. As I understand Nvidia Shield has a Plex Media Server.
I currently have an external HDD (via network) mounted to the Nvidia Shield, whereby I am using it to run Plex in my living room. So, am I able to use another Nvidia Shield as a ‘Client’ in my bedroom to access the same Plex account with the same Plex library as the one in the living room? If so, how do you do it?
I tried looking for answers online but got nowhere. It would be extremely cumbersome to run 2 separate Plex Media Servers with separate libraries.
You can have as many clients as you want connect to the server.
It does not matter if the server is a shield.
If you have multiple shield only one needs to be a server, and as long as they are all logged into the same account they should see and use the server seamlessly.
How do you start the Plex “client” app from the shield? There is only 1 Plex app in Shield. Do you just disable the “Plex Media Server” under settings? I am not able to locate a Client setting anywhere, or locate any Plex Client app.
Yes, in the settings of the Plex app on the Shield, you can disable the local Plex server part of the app.
Disable it on all Shields you have, except on the Shield which has the hard drive connected to it.
It does but I can’t install it as I think it is one of the same as the media server app. There is an option to open the app which is the media server app
