Plex package keeps stopping daily after PMS Update. Was Ok before

I am very much frustrated with my Plex Media Sever on Synology NAS. I have been running this for over a year and never had serious issues until recently. I am currently on PMS version 1.22.2.4282, when I updated to the version prior to this one that is when it all started. I would be watching a movie then suddenly movie would stop, when I would log on to my Synology NAS I noticed the package would be stopped and required to press “RUN” odd thing I never stopped it. Then I found myself having to do this multiple times a day, which was getting a bit problematic and annoying. I thought this must be some bug in the update, I am sure it is soon before others start reporting this and a new update will roll out with a fix. Sure enough a few days later I had a notification of of PMS update available, so I went to PLEX website and downloaded the corresponding package and installed it. My joy was soon over that same day Plex again had stopped. Now PMS might not stop numerous times a day but at least once a day and requires me to log into my server manually start this again. This is still very frustrating, I love PLEX, yet this routine that it has suddenly created for me the user is not very pleasant and currently not loving it so much. Please HELP FIX THIS!!!

  1. Why can’t PLEX auto-restart if it is crashing?
  2. What is causing this as it was fine before?

When was the Shield TV app last updated ?

There were a few versions which caused PMS to crash due to subtitles.
Granted, PMS shouldn’t crash – They’re still working on finding that part.

  1. Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced - Disable Crash Reporting - SAVE

To obtain the DMP file after a crash:

  1. When it crashes again:
  2. FileStation - Plex - Library - Application Support - Plex Media Server - Crash Reports - PLEX MEDIA SERVER - Click the version -
  3. Attach the DMP file which is present and the logs ZIP

No No… There will be a DMP file. Place that in a ZIP and upload the ZIP (the forum doesn’t allow DMP files to be attached to posts)

I have the same problem on my Synology 1019+.
Plex shuts down for no reason at 2.59am every morning. The NAS doesn’t stop, just the Plex app. I updated Plex on the 13/4/21 and the shutdowns started at 2.59am on the 14/4/21 and have happened every morning, It’s driving me nuts trying to figure out why.
It also doesn’t restart and I have to do it manually.

Can you easily recreate this failure?

If so, I’d like you to turn off Crash Reporting (Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced) then grab the Crash Reports “DMP” file .

It’s in Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Crash Reports/PLEX MEDIA SERVER/--version--/filename.DMP

If you can recreate and capture the DMP file then place in a ZIP and upload here, it will help me hone in better on where the failure occurred for my writeup to Engineering.

Thanks for your help- I turned off Crash Reporting and Plex shutdown at 1.10am and I restarted it and shutdown again at 2.59am. Looks like some king of endless loop in the logs may cause it, not sure. I went to the location you said for the .dmp files and the 4 folders were all empty. I have added the log files here in case they help. If the directories were empty then Crash Reporting is still enabled.

Please check that again. SAVE after disabling.
