Plex pass and additional users

If I have lifetime plex pass, and my library on my synology nas at my home, and my son uses the library on his xbox (he lives at home) Is he still able to watch on his phone away from home with his free account, or will there be a hardware transcoding limitation, even though its my server and i have lifetime pass??

Does managed users not inherrit plexpass features like skip intro from the main account?

Assuming the user is managed.

yes different email, I had signed up on the forum at a different time. The only feature i was hoping would transfer was the transcoding, its the main reason i bought the pass, the synology would run at full cpu transcoding before i bought pass if i was away from home and streaming.

He will get transcoding.

great so I got two answers here, one person says he will get transcoding other says he wont…not very helpful. guess i will have to see what happens to get my real answer.

Actually both previous responses said there won’t be an issue with transcoding.

When it comes to Plex Pass you need to distinguish between server related Plex Pass features and client related ones. HW accelerated transcoding being a server feature is linked to the server owner having a Plex Pass (your server, your Plex Pass = users streaming from your server benefiting from hw-accelerated transcoding)

Other features such as skip intro or removing limitations on certain mobile Plex clients require the user to have a Plex Pass. Therefore trumpy81 pointed out that your son might using a Plex account of his own will need to consider the one-time activation if he’s planning to use Plex on a mobile device.
