I’m thinking about buying a Plex Pass “lifetime.” I looked at the terms of service and there was no definition of “lifetime” that I could find.
What does lifetime cover?
Lifetime of the product?
Lifetime of the product until it changes ownership?
Lifetime of version 1.x?
I’m assuming it doesn’t mean my lifetime, but I couldn’t find a definition and the terms seem to say that they can change “Subscriptions” whenever they want with notice. Is lifetime a “subscription”?
That is a fair question, especially nowadays with a lot digital companies eg. apple, google etc purchasing a copy of a film you would expect you would own it forever…wrong most put a 5 year limit of ownership and then therefore have to repurchase said product. This relevant in this case as there is no clear meaning of the “lifetime”, I hate companies marketing divisions they are forcing pricing up on everything for no return to the consumer. Companies need to have more regulation right now to protect consumers, no more supposed “privacy policies” where they tell you “we care about your privacy” then proceed to sell your information to the highest bidder. if they sell your information then i think we should get a cut of the profits, after all it is our information.
You still don’t own it. It’s only licensed to you. You will never own it unless the creator/owner gives/or sells it to you. And this can be proven by displaying the film publicly, say YouTube. Much different than say, a car, or t-shirt where you can display it, destroy it, or, just give it away.
There is not. It has a common understanding that it’s for the life of you or the company with a few exceptions here and there.
The main reason I ask is that I know people that got caught up in the “lifetime” and now that we had to rename our company you have to re-buy lifetime again. I won’t mention the product, but think of product with fox in the name now.
