Plex pass HELP!

So, I’ve had plex for a few years and I finally, this week, bought a lifetime plex pass. My movies are stored on a HD plugged into my Nvidia Shield. I deleted a movie from the HD tonight and then I hit scan the library. I’ve done this hundreds of times. A scan just picks up a new movie and sees that I deleted one (there are about 2500 on the HD). BUT TONIGHT…

First it started UN-MATCHING MOVIES, REMOVING ARTWORK. I stopped the scan. Started rematching HUNDREDS of movies. Some movies appear to have artwork, but when I play them, they have none and I must add it again! What is happening!!??

ALSO, now (I guess cause I just bought a plex pass) I suddenly have trailers and all kinds of extras. First, where are these things stored? There’s no room on either the disk or the external HD for all this stuff!!!

Secondly, I don’t want them. On the Extras page in my settings NOTHING is checked. (Include cinema trailer from… etc). I don’t want these trailers and extras! I don’t want them to play. I don’t want them taking up space on the movie’s page! I don’t want them taking up disk space!

Is there no way to just get rid of them?
I bought the plex pass cause I wanted to support plex, But, if I’m right, the fact that I now have one has played HAVOC with my collection!

Will this un-matching ever stop? Will the artwork ever re-appear? Can I ever get rid of the extras? (Or do I scrap the whole thing and set up a new account with a new email and NO pass?

(it is currently re-scanning EVERY movie. Dear lord.)

The extras are a setting for each library. Turn this off. Yes, it is on by default so getting a Plex Pass will activate this.

I can’t say why it’s unmatching. Double check the path to the drive shown in your library setting? Make sure this didn’t change.

Side remark: those extras are not stored on your server. All your server is storing is a hyperlink and a small preview picture.

I don’t see that option.
In settings. I click in Libraries, select MOVIES, select edit, I have the option to “delete video thumbnails”…

I actually have two servers. One is my MacBook. (I only have about 15 movies in this library. I sort of use it t test movies.) On THAT server I have the option to “find extras.” But NOT on the main server (2400 movies0!
Argh!

Also after scanning over-night, alerts tells me the scan is complete, BUT I still have the process wheel spinning and spinning. I find nothing in alerts or dashboard to tell me what it’s doing.

All movies are matched now. It has removed the artwork (sort of.). What happens is, I SEE the artwork, but if I click on a movies, it disappears and I have to re-select a poster. TWENTY FOUR HUNDRED TIMES! (I so regret buying a pass!)

Any movie where I had selected the artwork, it has stuck. (maybe 10%) If I’d just let Plex select the artwork initially, I have to now select artwork. (I WISH I COULD HIDE THESE EXTRAS)

Can you double-check what type of library your movies are stored in and what agent you have set for it?

Under ⋮ > Manage Library > Edit...

  • General > Library Type – e.g. Movie, Other Video
  • Advanced > Agent – e.g. Plex Movie
