Plex Pass NOT SO SIMPLE

Server Version#: Fresh install of QNAP Media Center
Player Version#: Roku

I contacted support with this and they said to come here for help:

I come to support through my QNAP Plex Media Server install.
I had thought I had paid in several places for a Plex Pass.
I went looking for why I do not see Trailers button listed when we go through Web or Roku versions to watch, and I see a GO PREMIUM button. (I also saw under a section of trailers that Plex Pass is needed.)

I am writing because I am a pretty simple user and I am confused what Plex Pass is and where I need to have it! Can you please explain it?

We do not share our Plex Media Server with anyone really. We have one account we use, and if I need to share soemthing with my son, he also logs in as the same user. (Although we have a desire to watch a movie when he is away from home with him! and I also noticed in the server settings “Under my Server Remote Access it says: Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network.”

So, I need some good guidance that leaves me fully feeling I know what I need to do, and why I need to do it, especially as it relates to Plex Pass and paying a monthly fee. In short, if I do not understand, I am not going to be able to justify the expense.

Thank you for your consideration on this. Please have a very knowledgable support person respond, as a canned answer will likely not suffice.

A Plex Pass is a “Master feature” added to your account.

From that account, ANY server or device logged into your account has all the additional "Plex Pass " features also made available to you.

One of the most common features we use with the server is for Hardware Transcoding of our videos on the server.

You should have only paid for Plex Pass ONE PLACE and ONE TIME only – for your main Account. If you paid multiple times, we can get that resolved with the Billing folks.

If you look at your account here (where you posted), you can see the forum already knows you have a PlexPass: zeddock - Plex Pass

First, I’d like to get you running properly.

On the tech side –

From this point forward, EVERYTHING signed into this account automatically gets PlexPass status the moment it starts up. Those features remain active until your PlexPass expires (unless you have a lifetime pass)

It sounds like you have multiple devices. To get them to show your Plex Pass status,

  1. Stop the app
  2. Start it again.
  3. It should now reflect you have PlexPass status.

For the server itself, the process is the same.

  1. Stop PMS (in App Center)
  2. Start PMS (in App Center)

Regarding QNAP

  1. You installed PMS from? Plex.tv/downloads or App Center ?
  2. Were you able to open http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web and claim it (sign in) ?
