Plex - Playback Error (Conversion Failed, Codec Not Found)

Hello all,

For some reason I’m having issues with Plex not wanting to play a fair chunk of my media. The error message I get each time is:

Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install.

The files themselves are mostly MKV’s, but there are some of them that do actually play as expected. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what might be the cause of this?

PS. Im happy to upload logs, but im not sure if the full file is needed, or just a specific file within the .zip from the server.

Well, I somehow managed to fix this myself by deleting my library, clearing bundles, emptying trash, stopping the plex service on synology, renaming the preferences.xml to .old and then restarting plex.

Now just gotta try and kick it enough into pulling metadata… haha
