Plex playback stopping randomly

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112

Hi,

When trying to stream a movie from my plex media center on my TV it plays for a few minutes then just pauses. I restart the app on my TV and it plays again for a few more minutes then does the same thing again. The server is connected to my router via ethernet and my TV is connected via wifi about 4m from the router.

When streaming from my laptop, it constantly buffers and is nearly unwatchable which makes me think that it might be a transcoding problem. The PC I use as a server is very old with a pretty poor processor.

You have a networking problem at least.

It should not break connection. Are jumbo packets in use on the LAN? (MTU > 1500)

My router MTU was set to auto. Should I set it to 1500 and see how that goes?

This is LAN -> LAN device. everything in the chain should be set to 1500 (which is what “auto” should be.

Most devices will say “Jumbo ON/OFF” – you want OFF which should default it to 1500. (it’s because of how ethernet packets work. 1536 bytes per physical data packet on the wire of which 36 bytes are required ethernet bytes to access the media).

Next is the connection. WiFi or wired? If WiFi – distance to AP?

Pretty sure I’ve got everything set to 1500. My server is plugged directly into the AP but everything else is wireless. I’ve been testing at around 3-4m away from the AP with a direct line of sight.
